25 Questions to Ask Your Venue


So you're looking for the perfect venue, which is by far one of the most important tasks you'll undertake during your wedding planning! On top of the location and design, here are a few other things you might want to consider:

#1- Is your date available?

#2- What is the cost?

#3- What does that cost include/not include?

#4- How many hours does the rental fee include? Is there a cost for going over the allotted time?

#5- Are gratuities included in the fee?

#6- What is the venue's capacity (standing and seated)?

#7- How much parking is available?

#8- Are there musical instruments available for use?

#9- Will there be any other events going on the same day as yours?

#10- What is the deposit and when is it due?

#11- What is the cancellation policy?

#12- What time can vendors arrive?

#13- Can I use any vendor I want? Or is there a preferred vendor list? Do I have to use the in-house caterer, for example?

#14- If it is an outdoor venue, is there a back-up plan for poor weather?

#15- Will the venue be adequately staffed?

#16- Does the venue carry it's own liability insurance?

#17- How many washrooms are available?

#18- Do they carry their own alcohol license?

#19- Is there an area for the bridal party to get ready?

#20- Are there any decor restrictions? (Hanging decor, open flame, etc)

#21- Are there any rules regarding tossing confetti, birdseed, etc?

#22- Are any rental items included in the rental (linens, etc)?

#23- Is there a clean-up fee?

#24- Is there a venue coordinator or main point of contact?

#25- Can a rehearsal be scheduled on site?
