Best Man Duties

Asking someone to be your best man is a big deal, being asked to be someone's best man is an even bigger deal! It can also be a bit of a confusing role! We've put together a quick cheat sheet to help you along! The Best Man's duties include:

*Moral Support. First and foremost you are to be the supportive, always there, confidante, kind of friend!

*The Best Man will often be asked to help choose the ring. This is a big deal, take it seriously!

*Attend formal wear shopping and fittings.

*Co-ordinate all of the other groomsmen for things like the bachelor party, rehearsal dinner, fittings, etc.

*Plan the bachelor party. Try to keep it in line with the groom's interests!

*Attend all pre-wedding festivities (engagement party, couple's shower, rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, etc).

*Pick up groom's wedding attire.

*Keep everyone on point, where they're supposed to be, doing what they're supposed to be doing, on the day of the wedding.

*Hold bride's ring until it is needed for the ceremony.

*Sign as a witness on the marriage license during the ceremony.

*Hold the payment for the officiant, and ensure that it is given to the officiant immediately following the ceremony.

*Be announced and walk in with the maid of honour at the reception.

*Give the best man's toast/speech at the reception.

*Dance with the maid of honour during the first dance (you are free to dance with whomever for the remainder of the night).

*Decorate the get away car (this is an old, fun tradition, but many people are foregoing it now- we'll leave this one up to you!).

We really hope this has helped, enjoy the honour you've been given!
