12 Wedding Registry Items You'll Actually Use

It's a common story these days that engaged couples already have everything they need to run a household, as often they've already been doing it! But, your guests are still going to look for your wedding registry, and it can be tempting to just forego the whole ordeal- but when you receive 15 identical frying pans, don't come crying to us!

We've put together a quick list of wedding registry items that you'll actually use. How do we know? Because we've been there!

1. Nice sheets and pillow cases. Sheets are something that you can never really have to many of, and maybe you'll actually be able to throw away all those fitteds with loose elastic! Stick to neutral colours if you can, so they will be able to withstand the test of redecorating.

2. A large wooden cutting board. You'll find out why the first time you have company for Thanksgiving dinner and you pull that beautiful turkey from the oven to discover that you have nowhere big enough to set it, let alone to carve it!

3. Really good knives. A high-quality knife block will save your sanity down the road!

4. A crockpot/slowcooker. Life is busy and these set it and forget it appliances are an absolute lifesaver in my house!

5. A nice luggage set. This is something most people never think to buy for themselves (guilty!) but they're totally worth the money! Having cheap zippers break when you're half way across the country is not much fun- or, ahem, so my friend says.

6. Really good mixing bowls. Think non-slip bottom, easy pour spout.

7. Stand mixer. This is one of those things that you don't realize how much is missing in your life until you finally get one. We use it for EVERYTHING.

8. Cast iron cookware. Expensive, heavy, bulky, but so so well worth it.

9. Matching towels. A couple of matching bath towels, hand towels, and face towels will go a long way to spruce up a bathroom's overall appearance!

10. Food Storage Containers. How many times have you gone to put away the leftovers, only to realize that you have way more dishes than covers, or vice versa? Yeah, us too.

11. Matching Dishes. We're not talking fine china (which reminds me, I should probably wipe the dust off of mine..), but a nice solid set of matching dishes is a great investment!

12. Cordless Drill. I know this one seems a bit odd, but you'll thank yourself the next time you need to do a quick repair!

What did we miss? What is the most useful item you've received?
